On Wednesday, May 15th, three nationally celebrated American Fingerstyle guitarists – Peter Janson, Steve Davison and Tracy Moore - will be performing on Guemes Island. Peter Janson is an award-winning contemporary solo guitarist, composer, and music educator. His recordings have reached No. 2 in Billboard and he’s performed at Carnegie Hall, the Montreal Jazz Festival, the WUMB Music Festival in Boston, and many other festivals and venues throughout North America. Janson’s style of contemporary solo guitar music weaves together the common elements of Jazz, Folk, Celtic, European, and improvisational music. Steve Davison has also performed across North America at venues such as the Healdsburg Guitar Festival in California, The Memphis Guitar Show and the Montreal Guitar Festival in Quebec. He’s an award-winning guitarist and composer on 6 and 12-string guitar. Among his numerous honors, he’s won the Ozark Folk Center Merle Travis Contemporary Competition and the solo competition at the Arkansas Acoustic Music Festival. Davison performs a mix of traditional and original contemporary guitar music. Tracy Moore is one of the world’s truly fine 12-string guitarists who has expanded the rich melodic tones and dynamic possibilities of the instrument – lifting the 12-string guitar above its former role as an accompaniment or power guitar instrument to what he calls “Melodic 12-String Guitar”. Moore plays a mix of Celtic, old European lute works, and original contemporary music. This event is being presented by The 4 Chicks and a Dude – the four-woman team of Cheryl Mansley, Suzie Gwost, Lorrie Steele, and Libby Boucher, and their friend, Andy Gladish. The 4 Chicks believe in creating community events with a “down-home” feel. So, on Wednesday, May 15th, please join us at the Guemes Island Community Center at 7549 Guemes Island Road. Show starts at 6:00 p.m. Admission is $15/person suggested donation @ the door. Refreshments will be served during intermission.
